Is Afuri packed on a Wednesday night?

I wasn't expecting Afuri to be as packed as it was on a Wednesday night, even during the peak time window (7:00ish pm) in which we arrived. Getting a table looked like it would be a bit of a wait, but fortunately, the bar was open, and full service, so we sidled up and grabbed a menu.

Is Afuri worth the price?

Lastly, as for the appetizer, Chef's Bowl (poached egg, dashi soy, ikura, uni, tobiko, scallion, wasabi, kizami nori), it was almost too pretty to consume. This was served in a small bowl and every bite was worth it. However, $12, it was a price to pay. Afuri has potential, but for the price, it sounds like it's trying to hard to be upscale.

Is Afuri Ramen authentic?

The Afuri on SE 7th was so embarrassingly not the best, so the Japanese friends never returned. (They also have a different menu and chefs.) One Japanese friend is from the Tantanmen region. She says the Tantanmen ramen is very authentic. Common add ons to Ramen include egg, or Chashu pork. I love to add more Bok Choy.

Ramen

Our menu centers around our signature bowl of yuzu shio ramen; a light-colored broth built upon a reduction made from dried seafood, seaweed, an assortment of salty, umami ingredients, and citrus notes of yuzu. Our kitchen uses the same techniques employed in our "central kitchen" at the foot of afuri mountain

Japanese Whisky

Due to the increased popularity of Japanese Whiskey, supply has become limited. If you would like to see our Reserve List, please ask your server
