What is the Beau Jo's pizza Challenge?
Beau Jo's offers a challenge for you and a friend to eat a 14 pound pizza in one hour. Winners get two t-shirts and a $100 dollars each. It starts with a huge crust, and pepperoni base. At that point they pre-cook the crust and the layer of sauce, pepperoni, and cheese.
Is Beau Jo's crust vegan?
We went straight for the pizza; that's a two-pound pizza on honey-white crust. (The gluten-free crust is vegan-friendly if you don't eat honey.) It's topped with Hatch green chiles and pineapple, plus Beau Jo's dairy-free cheese, which melted beautifully, as you can see in the above photo.

The hot honey boom can be traced back to a guy named Mike Kurtz, who in 2003 was a pizza-loving college student studying abroad in Brazil. Hiking in Bahia, he came upon a pizzeria that offered guests a jar of spiced honey with whole chile peppers submerged inside. Kurtz tried it and was amazed.
