Food Services!

This website allows parents and students to learn more about the School Lunch Program. We hope you are able to find the information you need. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any suggestions on how to improve this site.

Food Services Mission Statement

Recognizing that good nutrition has a positive effect on learning and good health, the mission of the Food Service Department is to provide nutritious meals to students, staff and the community-at-large, in a caring and customer-friendly environment, using menus that emphasize:

Menu

The USDA meal patterns requires that five components must be offered to qualify for a reimbursable meal. A Meat/Protein, Fruit, Vegetable, Bread, and Milk must be offered in specific quantities. These meal patterns are designed to provide 1/3 of the recommended dietary allowances for key nutrients.

Meal Modifications

If your child has been determined by a doctor to have a food allergy that would prevent the child from eating a regular school meal, the school will make substitutions prescribed by the doctor. An effort will also be made to accommodate medically necessary dietary modifications for non-handicapped children.

Farm to School

We are always looking for local producers to partner with us in bringing farm fresh produce and other items into the school when available. It is important for kids to understand where food comes from and the benefits of less processed fresh foods in their diets.

Choices

In order to encourage students to eat a complete lunch, we offer four entrée choices at each elementary. In addition to what is on the main menu for that day, and we also offer a fresh chef salad, cereal lunch and a grab and go PBJ lunch. The Jr. High offers 2 main entrees one of which is pizza every day.

USDA Donated Foods

Part of the funding of the National School Lunch Program comes to the district in the form of USDA donated foods. As students tastes have changed, the types of foods offered as donated foods have changed with them.
