What is the Academy District 20 meal program?

Children need healthy meals to learn. Academy District 20 in partnership with Sodexo, USDA and CDE will offer healthy meals every school day through the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. Students in all grades will receive breakfast (if offered at your students’ school) and lunch at no cost for schools on the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program.#N#This current no cost meal program is different from the Free and Reduced meal program. To receive assistance with fees such as athletics, device fees, exams, transportation, etc. you must have an approved Free and Reduced meal application on file for the 2021-22 school year . Once your application has been approved you can contact your students’ school to find out if assistance is available for the 2021-22 school year.#N#By applying, you increase School Funding and Grant opportunities for your student’s school.

When will the free meal program start in 2021?

If your student (s) participated in the free and reduced meal program during the 2020-2021 school year, please remember they receive carryover benefits for the first 30 school days (Aug. 11, 2021 – Sep. 25, 2021), or until a new eligibility determination is made, whichever comes first .
