Since the early days of this site, we’ve professed our love for Gramercy Tavern. If someone were to ask us to put together a list (people love lists) of once-in-a-lifetime meals that we’d like to eat many, many times in our lifetimes, the tasting menu at this legendary restaurant would be near the top.
Chilled Corn Soup
A regular on both the tasting and the bar menu, and for good reason. This soup is amazing.
Fire Roasted Carrots, Sunflower Seeds, Pickled Ramps & Buckwheat
God damn, are these good carrots. Cooked on the big open flame that you’ll see from your seat in the bar area, these are served with sunflower seeds and some other delicious things, depending on the season. Get some.
Ricotta Cavatelli
I love the pasta at Gramercy Tavern, regardless of what room they serve them in. You will, too.
Cheese Kielbasa
If this sausage with rye spaetzle and sauerkraut is on the menu, you want it. It’s hearty, but not so big it will take you down. Doable even for lunch.
Arctic Char
This char comes with a broth and all kinds of green stuff like dill and kale. Probably our favorite fish item.
Red Snapper
Served Mediterranean-style, with fennel and olives. Salty and citrusy in all the right ways.
