Free Meals for all Students

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced that they will continue serving meals to children at no cost, through June 30, 2022 . This will ensure, no matter what the situation is, children have access to nutritious food as the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Like many others during this time, we are experiencing supply chain shortages and delays that could cause changes to our menus with little to no notice. We apologize for any inconveniences this may create.

What to do if you don't find something on our menus?

If you do not find something on our menus to meet your child’s dietary needs, you will need to complete an allergy request form and provide a doctor’s note to both the school nurse and the cafeteria manager. Please contact our Registered Dietitian at 512-464-8332 for additional assistance.

How much is a reduced meal?

The USDA requires a reduced meal price maximum of $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch. As a part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFK), school districts are required to adjust meal prices by $.10 each year until the student paid price is equal to or greater than the free reimbursement.

Why do we have to determine the portion size of food for children?

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) determines the portions by age so they better meet the food and nutritional needs of children. These portions or serving standards designed to give each child at their age level one-third of their daily nutritional requirement of food.
