Payment Options

Please take advantage of the options to prepay your student's meal accounts. Prepaid meal accounts help the lunch lines go faster and gives students more time to eat, relax, and socialize.

Benefits of Breakfast

Eating breakfast can help improve math, reading, and standardized test scores. Children who eat breakfast are more likely to behave better in school and get along with their peers than those who do not. Breakfast helps children pay attention, perform problem-solving tasks, and improves memory.

Congregate Meals

Meals are provided to senior citizens 60 years of age or older, or a spouse or widow/widower of someone who is 60 years of age or older, at a suggested donation of $2. Guests who do not meet the age requirements pay full cost for the meal. Monthly menus can be picked up at any senior center location.

Home Delivered Meals

Home-delivered meals are provided to senior citizens 60 years of age or older, who are assessed as home-bound and unable to prepare meals for themselves. To qualify for this service, a nutrition screening assessment is performed. Depending on availability, applicants may be placed on a waiting list.

Transportation

This service provides transportation to senior citizens living in Grant and Hidalgo County. Transportation service recipients must be at least 60 years of age. Wheelchair accessible and assisted transportation is not available at this time.

About Older Americans Act

The intent of the Older Americans Act (OAA) is to allow older adults to remain independent, either in their community or in their homes, by meeting the dietary needs of participants. Additionally, the OAA offers participants opportunities to form new friendships and to create informal support networks through socialization opportunities.
