The mission of the School Nutrition Program is to make a significant contribution to the general well-being and learning ability of each student. This will be achieved by providing students with healthy, nutritious, appetizing and affordable meals served courteously, in a clean and pleasant dining environment.
What is the role of nutrition in school?
Nutrition influences a child’s development, health, well-being and potential for learning. Each school day, the Food Service Department is charged with providing nutritious breakfasts and lunches as well as snacks for our students in a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere.

All children ages 1-18 are eligible to receive free meals during the summer months at participating program sites. When will Jackson Public Schools start serving lunch?
Lunch and breakfast meals will be available at 13 school sites and at neighborhood bus stops when school starts Monday, August 17.
Do JPS scholars get lunch?
JPS scholars will receive breakfast and lunch meals at no cost as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

Pandemic EBT — P-EBT for short — helps families buy groceries when students are learning remotely (from home) during COVID. These funds will be available through September 2021 to some students. The state is working on a plan to distribute the funds in the coming months.
