Where is Konbi located?
Konbi is located on Sunset near Echo Park and is easy to miss. It has a narrow dining space, which isn't open yet. Right now, they're still doing takeout from a window counter. You can always eat at the one table on the sidewalk if there's room. Opening the sandwich box is like unwrapping a gift.
Is Konbi's Tamago Sando the same as Japan?
Okay, now going back to Konbi's tamago sando... it is not the same as Japan. It is beautiful for sure, however, Konbi's tamago sando has too much mustard (at least that's what I tasted). It was spicy and had a hit of something. Japanese tamago sando's from the convenience stores are pretty basic (creamy and eggy).
Can you order Konbi pastries?
However, you can't order the pastries ahead of time and will have to order at the window. Egg Salad - Had to order the egg salad sandwich which Konbi is known for. The egg salad was well seasoned and the hardboiled egg in the sandwich was perfect with the yolk not entirely cooked.
