Legal Harborside is Legal Sea Food’s 20,000 square foot flagship property on the Boston Waterfront, comprising of three floors and three different concepts under one (retractable) roof. You’ll find a nod to our heritage on the first floor hull, with a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist, an oyster bar and a market.

Open Sunday – Thursday from 12n – 9pm and Friday – Saturday from 12n – 10pm for restaurant dining as well as takeout. Delivery and pick-up is now available. We are now open for patio / outdoor dining at Downtown Crossing, weather permitting. Legal Sea Foods began in 1950 as a fish market in the Inman Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Where was legal seafood first served?
Legal Sea Foods began in 1950 as a fish market in the Inman Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It’s here that the “Legal” name became synonymous with quality and freshness. In 1968, our first seafood restaurant opened, right next to the fish market. The fish was simply prepared, either broiled or fried, and served on paper plates at communal picnic tables. Despite the low-key trappings, the food was second to none and word spread quickly. This early success led to further expansion and now, six decades later with restaurants along the Eastern Seaboard, the commitment to freshness and quality endures: “If it isn’t fresh, it isn’t Legal!”
