What is the difference between small Cheval and au Cheval?
I know Small Cheval has less options, but is it the same quality / taste as Au Cheval? They have the same owner but definitely taste different. The buns are more toasted at Au Cheval also the type of bacon they use is different. Au Cheval uses a pork face cut which is much thicker if you look at pictures of the two burgers.

The atmosphere is very much a home style neighborhood burger joint, very relaxing place to grab some lunch. Love coming to Small Cheval! Great burgers, fries and milkshakes. Huge portions!
Is the wait at small cheval really that long?
Now that Small Cheval has several locations, a long wait is no longer part of the experience. I still remember when the first Small Cheval took over the Roxie's by the Slice location in Wicker, and lines were consistently out the door (which was still an improvement over the insane Au Cheval wait).

Is the patio at L passing by semi good?
Their patio is really amazing. Lots of happy green natural decor but a big city feel too with the L passing by semi regularly. People are friendly and staff is helpful. Right now they're only doing delivery and pick up (even if you eat on the patio you still order pick up from their website). They have clean bathrooms though if you ask an employee to use one. Will be back!

Love coming to Small Cheval! Great burgers, fries and milkshakes. Huge portions! Fries can be shared, too! What I love about this location is the fast service, great quality burgers and a lot of outdoor seating (COVID FRIENDLY!) it can be really hard to get a seat at Au Cheval in West Loop so I'm glad Small Cheval is an option for fast and reliable food!
