UM Campus Dining is a team of highly skilled chefs and professionals and over 400 incredible student employees whose primary mission is to help you succeed and enjoy your time at UM.

How do I sign up for UM housing meal plans?

Sign on to CaneLink ( canelink.miami.edu) and under the "UM Housing" section, go to meal plan step and select your preferred meal plan. Once residential colleges have opened, if you would like to sign up or make a change to your plan, email diningservices@miami.edu.

Michigan Dining is comprised of twelve on-campus cafés and seven markets, seven residential dining halls, a line of Blue to Go foods and the Michigan Catering unit. Our emphasis is on creative, healthy and nutritious foods, international cuisines and sustainability throughout all dining operations.

Housing beyond the first-year is not guaranteed. Local first-year students who plan to live off campus with a parent or legal guardian can submit a live-on exemption request in the Housing Portal via CaneLink. On-campus housing for spring admitted first-year students is neither required nor guaranteed.

If you live in a residence hall, you are required to purchase a meal plan for both fall and winter terms. The Unlimited Basic meal plan is included in the base rate of your residence hall room and board. If you choose to purchase a different plan, it will change your room and board total.

Do dining dollars roll over Umich?

Dining Dollars are purchased as part of a meal plan and can be used in the residential dining halls and cafes and at dozens of other on-campus eateries. Dining Dollars roll over from Fall to Winter term and expire at the end of the academic year.

Who is the garden manager at Campus Dining?

Anastasia Orkwiszewski, Campus Dining’s garden manager, oversees a 1/2-acre urban spread of vegetables, fruit trees and flowers — as well as an apiary and flock of egg-laying ducks — products from which all go toward supplying dining outlets across campus.

Wiser Bistro

The Wiser Bistro is located on the ground floor of Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants.

Methodist Rehabilitation Cafeteria

A cafeteria is located on the second floor of Methodist Rehabilitation Center.

Subway

A Subway restaurant is located down the hall from the University Hospital main cafeteria, in the Addie McBryde building.

McDonald's

A McDonald's restaurant is located on the first floor between Methodist Rehabilitation Center and University Hospital.

Market Coffee at Main Lobby

Market Coffee at Main Lobby is on the first floor of University Hospital, at the top of the staircase from the front lobby.

Market Coffee at Physicians Pavilion

Market Coffee at Physicians Pavilion is located in the University Physicians Pavilion.

Market Coffee at Sanderson Tower

Market Coffee is located on Level G (ground floor) of the Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower at Children's of Mississippi.

When do you have to request meal plans for the fall semester?

Meal Plan accommodations must be requested through Office of Disabilities Services (ODS) prior to June 1 st for the fall semester and prior to December 1 st for the spring semester.

When do dining dollars roll over?

Dining Dollars are a compliment to your meal swipes; use them when you cannot make it back to the residential dining hall, or when you just want a change! Dining Dollar balances roll over from fall to spring semester but are forfeited at the end of the spring semester.

Do undergraduates need a meal plan?

On-the-go eating can make it tough to eat healthy, but vending machines located across Michigan Medicine (link is external) offer MHealthy options to help! In fact, 50 percent of options in vending machines across the Michigan Medicine are guaranteed MHealthy options! Look for the MHealthy logo to identify these healthier options.
