Westonka Honors Healthcare 'Gold Medalists'
Westonka Public Schools students and staff honored healthcare workers as this week’s Gold Medalists! We know that our community healthcare workers have been stretched to the limit time and time again over this pandemic, and the school district is incredibly grateful for their service and sacrifice.
Blake Lee Named National Merit Finalist
Blake Lee, a Mound Westonka High School senior, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships that began in 1955.
All-District Band Concert Slated for February 27
Over 300 students in grades 5-12 are gearing up for the biggest band event of the year. The Westonka All-District Band Concert will be held Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Mound Westonka High School gym.
Young Scientists Impress at Hilltop Science Fair
Over 50 young scientists entered projects in the Hilltop Primary School Science Fair on February 3. Students from kindergarten through fourth grade displayed a wide variety of scientific projects, ranging from a tornado box to chemistry projects to important data on germs present at Hilltop and where they are most likely to spread.
Super Spellers Compete at Grandview
Sadie Mulder, a sixth-grader at Grandview Middle School, won the school’s spelling bee and earned the opportunity to qualify for the next round of regional competition.
Board Approves Revised Budget, Budget Goal
During the regular meeting February 7, the Westonka School Board approved the revised 2021-2022 budget and reviewed a projection for next year’s budget. The board approved the revised 2021-2022 unassigned general operating budget of $30,167,309 in revenues and $30,098,185 in expenditures for a net increase of $69,124.
