How do you choose which Mirror servers to use in the mirrorlist?

I've tried connecting to a geographically close mirror server which is Turkey but it gave me slow speeds as opposed to connecting to Switzerland server which was significantly faster assuming because Certain countries are more advanced in the internet speed aspect,so then should i manually benchmark each mirror with some script or whatever to determine which one is more efficient?.
