Carmen Rocha joins EL CHOLO. She starts making a dish called “nachos” that she made in her hometown of San Antonio. Again History is made. Aurelia and George’s son, Ron, opens our La Habra location making El Cholo a 3rd generation, family-owned restaurant.
What is the history of El Cholo?
In 1962 this space started as an El Cholo take-out location. After a year the men’s store next door moved out and we expanded to include a dining room with seven redwood picnic tables. Originally a self-serve location, we began hiring servers and expanding.
