When will Wake County schools start serving breakfast in 2022?
Through June 30, 2022, all children age 18 and under may receive breakfast and lunch at no cost via Curbside and Big Bus Food Truck Pop-up locations. Meals are also free to all Wake County students when they are at school for in-person instruction.
When will CNS issue double meals?
Due to the forecasted weather for Thursday, July 8, CNS will issue double meals at curbsite locations on Wednesday, July 7 , and reroute Thursday's BBFT distribution to Friday. This eliminates potential concerns about weather exposure while still providing needed services.

What are the nutrition standards for school meals?
Nutrition standards for school meals are aligned with the latest nutrition science. Age-appropriate meals are designed for grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 based on the meal pattern established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and dietary specifications including limits on fats, sodium and calories.

How often are schools inspected?
School dining rooms are inspected more often than other places that serve food because they serve children. Middle and high schools are inspected three times a year. Elementary schools are inspected four times a year. Check out the sanitation score of your child's school lunchroom.
Can you eat more fruits and vegetables in WCPSS?
WCPSS offers more fruits and vegetables daily than is required. Students may take all side choices as part of the meal except that a maximum of 2 fruits is permitted when an assortment of fresh fruits are offered. Students still need to receive the required meal components to qualify for the combination meal price.
Mandated Reporting
State law and Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) policy and regulation require that all WCPS employees immediately make a report to the Washington County Department of Social Services if they suspect that a student has been the victim of abuse (physical abuse, mental injury, sexual abuse, human trafficking or neglect).
Title IX Coordinator
Any person may report sex discrimination, including sexual harassment (whether or not the person reporting is the person alleged to be the victim of conduct that could constitute sex discrimination or sexual harassment), to the Title IX coordinator.
