District 49 prepares students, in a safe and caring environment, to be successful, competent and productive citizens in a global society. Our teachers, administrators and staff members are committed to the creation of educational environments where all children can maximize their individual learning potential.
Who are the students of D49 participating in esports?
D49 students are participating in eSports, competitive online video game tournaments with students from across the country. Ezekiel Ford is serving his country and students at SCHS. As a 2020 graduate, Ford completed his educational journey with plans for a military career.
Does it cost money to complete the D49 application?
We also want to share a friendly reminder that is extremely important for all qualifying families to complete the application process, regardless of the availability of meals at no cost for all D49 families.
What is district 49?
District 49's school administrators and cafeteria managers appreciate the opportunity to share in every student’s life by serving him or her a nutritious meal. They use a computerized point-of-service system called QSP. Each student receives a pin number, much like an adult would for an ATM card. This pin number stays with the student all the way through graduation, for as long as the student is enrolled. This computer system tracks free, reduced and paid student meals and accounts.
Does District 49 have a meal program?
This means that District 49's nutrition services does not receive any financial support from local tax-payers to operate the meal programs. Federal regulations allow schools to deny students who receive reduced- or full-price meals but do not have money (CDE Nutrition Unit Administrator's Reference Manual, Section 4).
Is the nutrition department a federal agency?
The nutrition department is regulated by the federal government through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. Part of that regulation is the directive to operate as a self-funded enterprise fund (a not-for-profit business) within the school district.
What is D49 in reading?
In D49 ensuring every learner has a firm foundation in reading is essential. For most that includes learning how to write letters and knowing sight words. For others, it's about mastering a pattern of dots.
