Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal!! Hai Hai is an acclaimed, fun, trendy Vietnamese spot in Northeast Minneapolis. It's good for a date or a drink with a friend. I wasn't blown away by the food, but it's still a respectable spot and labels all its vegan items.

Who owns Hai Hai?
Christina Nguyen is the chef and co-owner of Hai Hai and Hola Arepa. Her Vietnamese dad & Vietnamese-French mom fled Vietnam during the war, and when they met each other at the U of M, they fell in love and started an 80s rock cover band together. Christina was born & raised in the Twin Cities.
When did Hai Hai open?
It started in 2011 with a food truck, when legal food trucks were brand-new around here. The couple had been inspired by their travels through South America to do their own fusion version of Venezuelan arepas.
Who owns Hola Arepa?
Chef Christina NguyenChef Christina Nguyen & her partner Birk Grudem started Hola Arepa as a food truck in 2011.
