Where is the Racquet Club in Winter Park?
My new husband looked at me and whispered how fortunate we both were to be having our wedding there. The Racquet Club is located within a brick-street neighborhood, off of Park Avenue, surrounded by beautiful Private estates. We knew that this venue would be great due to the location (close to our ceremony location: Winter Park United Methodist Church) and that it was a higher-end look in decor, therefore allowing us to be eased up on bringing in a large amount of decor. We had floral by Robin Sky and she had filled the venue with enough white and ivory Roses and Hydrangeas to supply an army. It was breathtaking to see everything set-up at the venue when we arrived for our grand entrance. So many of our guests have commented about the GREAT food, the buffet set-up (amazing!!!!) and the location. Not to mention the family and bridal pictures at the WPRC dock, at sunset. It was just the most perfect day! We thank Alexis (the Catering Director), the Chef and the staff. Not to mention our DJ Service (Premiere Entertainment: Carl), he has worked with WPRC quite a bit and they had worked together to really host the reception to-a-tee. We just cannot express our gratitude enough. It was a perfect day, that we will absolutely always remember.
Is Winter Park Racquet Club a good place to have a wedding reception?
The Winter Park Racquet Club is such a beautiful venue for a wedding reception! We couldn't have had a more perfect day. We had our cocktail hour outside and reception in the dining room. All our guests complimented the food and service! Alexis...
Great environment
If you’re thinking about being a lifeguard here and you have experience, it’s a really chill and a fun place to work! Management is super understanding about any personal issues and is actually really nice if you listen and do your job.
Co-workers keep it bearable
Dealing with members can be very aggravating sometimes, as some can be complete jerks. Co-workers are great for the most part, and help get you through your shift.
Could be a decent job with more caring managment
Management only focuses on the satisfaction of the members with little concern for the employees. Not enough employees to have shifts on weekends so you end up working 10-12 hour days outside in 95 degrees. A lot could be improved for the staff, but management isn't concerned. The wage isn't enough to deal with the neediness of members.
Good learning opportunities
This is a great place to learn and refine techniques. The smaller customer base (Tennis Club members & their guests) gives more opportunities to slow down a little and focus on plating and cooking techniques. The sous chef is very experimental with his menu, giving you chances to explore differnt methods.
Downhill with every shift
Immediate team members in the kitchen are great and hardworking people for the most part. Some pull more weight then others. However if you do stand out and work hard you will not be praised for it or even acknowledged. Management is terrible. New food and beverage manager is almost incompetent in some cases and incredibly hard to work with.
Decent work environment with amazing membership
Overall, a day working at the Racquet Club was relatively slow-paced; however, it became quicker-paced at certain times. It is a great beginner job, if you are looking for something that can teach you the basics of hospitality and service without the typical amount of stress related to a normal restaurant.
Love this place
This is the best place to work. The outstanding members of the club who treated you with respect, regardless of what you job duties were.
