What to eat at guisado's?

First time trying Guisado's and the tacos are all really tasty. They're all unique from your standard taco spot. Each are stewed and flavorful. And the corn handmade tortillas are always a plus! They only serve tacos and tamales. We got the platter plate (6 mini tacos of your choice) and the pork tamale.

Start your review of Guisados. This place is game changing! The OG sampler plate of tacos comes with SIX mini versions of their top meat tacos (and at ONLY $8.25!!! Plus they have a vegetarian option too!). I was blown away! Handmade corn tortillas and ingredients that have obviously been lovingly slow cooked. Every single taco tasted AMAZING!

What are guisado tacos?

Guisado tacos are tacos that are stewed vs grilled meats. There's Yucatan faves like Conchinita Pibil, chicken mole, chicken tinga and many more. Lots of vegetarian options too. I got the sampler plate $8.25 which comes with 6 mini tacos of your choice.

What does tacos de guisado mean?

Guisados are "the Mexican version of a one-pot meal," Cámara told me over the phone. Anything simple, slow-cooked, and stewy—whether made with chicken, seafood, pork, beef, or vegetables—is basically a guisado. "Meatballs in salsa, that's a guisado," she said. "Pork ribs in green sauce, that's a guisado."

Born in Boyle Heights in December 2010, Guisados set out to serve homestyle braises on handmade corn tortillas; tortillas made to order from the fresh ground masa next door at Carnitas Uruapan. We created a simple menu, one which reminded us of home and how mom spent her afternoons.

Armando de la Torre Sr. and his son, Armando de la Torre Jr., recently took over George's Burger Stand, the Boyle Heights restaurant that's been around since the 1960s.

What is a costra?

Essentially, costras are tortillas made of cheese that wrap around some kind of meat—perfect late-night food. Costra translates to scab, which isn't tempting, but it can also mean crust, which explains the texture of the cheese.

Is the Camarones restaurant gluten free?

Their entire menu is gluten free with the exception of their Camarones. They have vegetarian options, but they do NOT have vegan options.

Do the staff at the sanitizer shop wear gloves?

The staff also wear gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some outdoor and indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between customers.
